JSP Financial Services Limited is committed to protecting your personal information.

Our Privacy Policy contains important information about what personal details we collect, what we do with that information, who we may share it with and why, and your choices and rights when it comes to the personal information you have given us.

Information We Collect And Use

Information about you that we collect and use includes:

  • Information about who you are such as your name, address, date of birth and contact details such as your telephone number(s) and email address
  • Information about your employment or self employment and your income details
  • Information about the investments you hold, arranged via JSP Financial Services Limited or with other organizations where disclosed and necessary for us to provide the relevant advice required 
  • Information connected to any product or service we have arranged for you, for example your bank account details
  • Information classified as ‘sensitive’ personal information, for example relating to your health, marital or civil partnership status. This information will only be collected and used where it’s needed to provide the product or service you have requested or to comply with our legal obligations
  • Family, lifestyle or social circumstances (for example the number of dependants you have) if relevant to the product or service we provide
  • Information about your contact with us such as meetings, phone calls, emails, letters
  • Information that is automatically collected for example if you visit our website and provide any details in the contact me section
  • Information you may provide to us about other people, for example joint applicants or beneficiaries for products you have with us. We must have their authority to provide this personal data to us and share this Privacy Policy with them beforehand, together with details of what we are arranging on their behalf
  • Information on children, for example where a child is named as a beneficiary on the policy taken out by a parent or guardian on their behalf. In these cases, we will collect and use only the information required to identify the child (such as their name, age, gender)

Providing Your Personal Data

We shall tell you if providing some personal data is optional, including if we ask your consent to process it. In all other cases you will need to provide your personal data so that we can process your application or provide our financial advice (unless you are an existing customer and we already hold your details).

Where We Collect Your Information

We may collect your personal information directly from you from a variety of sources, including:-

  • a meeting where we collect information to be able to provide the advice you are seeking
  • an application form for a product or service
  • your employer if you are a member of your employer’s pension scheme
  • a third party such as an insurance company or fund manager but only if we have your consent beforehand
  • phone conversations with us
  • emails or letters you send to us
  • our website

We may also collect information about you from places such as business directories and other publicly available sources, for example to check or improve the information we hold such as your address.

Monitoring Of Communications

Subject to applicable laws we shall monitor and record calls, emails, text messages, letters and other communications between us in relation to our dealings with you. We’ll do this for regulatory compliance, self-regulatory practices, crime prevention and detection, to protect the security of our communication systems and procedures, for quality control, and when we need to see a record of what has been said or written. We may also monitor activities on your plan, policy or account where necessary for these reasons and where it is justified by our legitimate interests or legal obligations.

Using Your Personal Data: What We Collect And What We Use Your Information For

We take your privacy seriously and we shall only ever collect and use information which is personal to you where it is necessary, fair and lawful to do so. We shall collect and use your information only where:

  • it’s necessary to provide the advice, product or service you have requested – for example if you want us to report on your financial well being or if you wish us to arrange an investment into a pension, savings or other plan then we shall require some personal information including your name, address, date of birth, how you view risk, your bank account details, other plans you hold, and so on. These details will enable us to provide our advice to help you decide whether to enter into a plan or arrangement, and enable us to manage and perform the advice and update our records.
  • it’s necessary for us to meet our legal or regulatory obligations, for example:
  • to send you illustrations, plan details and related disclosures
  • to send you annual or other periodic statements
  • to tell you about changes to Terms and Conditions
  • to verify your identity, make fraud prevention and anti-money laundering checks and for the detection and prevention of fraud
  • for establishment and defence of legal rights
  • it’s in the legitimate interests of JSP Financial Services Limited, for example:
  • (a) to deliver appropriate information and guidance so you are aware of the options that will help you get the best outcome from your product or investment;
  • (b) where we need to process your information to better understand you and your needs so we can send you more relevant communications about the products you have with us and to suggest new products and services
  • it’s in the legitimate interests of a third party, for example sharing information with an insurance company or fund manager or other provider to whom you have made an application or hold a policy

If you do not wish us to collect and use your personal information in these ways, it may mean that we shall be unable to provide you with our advice, products or services.

  • Based on your consent, for example where you request that we disclose your personal data to other people or organisations, or otherwise agree to disclosures

Who We May Share Your Information With

We may share your information with third parties for the reasons outlined in “What We Collect And What We Use Your Information For”.

These third parties include:

  • A plan or product provider such as an insurance company, fund manager, platform provider when we request illustrations or establish investments or plans with them on your behalf.
  • Companies we have chosen to support us in the delivery of the products and services we offer to you and other customers, for example technology companies or companies who can help us in our contact with you such as an internet service provider.
  • Our regulators and Supervisory Authority, such as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), the Information Commissioner’s Office for the UK (the ICO)
  • Law enforcement, credit and identity check agencies for the prevention and detection of crime
  • HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) for example for the processing of tax relief on pension payments or the prevention of tax avoidance

We shall never sell your details to someone else and whenever we share your personal information we shall do so in line with our obligations to keep your information safe and secure.

Your information is processed in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA).

How We Protect Your Information

We take information and system security very seriously and strive to comply with our obligations at all times.  Any personal information which is collected, recorded or used in any way, whether on paper, online or other media, will have appropriate safeguards applied in line with our data protection obligations to minimize loss or damage through accident, negligence or deliberate actions.

How Long We Keep Your Information

We shall keep your personal information only where it is necessary to provide you with our advice or services while you are a customer.

We may also keep your information after this period, whether or not you are a customer, but only to meet our legal or regulatory obligations, for example:-

  • Retention in case of queries: for as long as necessary to deal with any queries you may have
  • Retention in case of claims: for as long as we deem necessary in case of claims made against us
  • Retention in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements: the length of time we keep your information for these purposes will vary depending on the obligations we need to meet

Your Marketing Preferences

We shall use your home address, telephone numbers and email address to contact you according to your preferences. You can change your preferences or unsubscribe at any time by contacting us (details at the front of this notice).

From time to time we shall contact you with financial information that may be of interest to you, such as changes in taxation, newsletters relating to financial advice and services, or products or services that may apply for your circumstances. We shall not bombard you with these details and you can choose to stop receiving such information at any time by contacting us using the contact details at the front of this Privacy Notice.

Your Individual Rights

You have several rights in relation to how JSP Financial Services Limited uses your information (noting that certain rights don’t apply in all circumstances). They are:

Right to be informed: you have a right to receive clear and easy to understand information on what personal information we have, why we have it, and who we share it with. We do this in our Privacy Policy and privacy notices.

Right of access: you have the right of access to your personal information. If you wish to receive a copy of the personal information we hold on you, you can make a data subject access request (DSAR).

Right to request that your personal information be rectified: if your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, you can request that it is corrected.

Right to request erasure: you can ask for your information to be deleted or removed (the “right to be forgotten”) if there is not a compelling reason for JSP Financial Services Limited to continue to have it.

Right to restrict processing: you can ask that we block or suppress the processing of your personal information for certain reasons. This means that we are still permitted to keep your information but to ensure we don’t use it in the future for those reasons you have restricted.

Right to move, copy or transfer your personal data (“data portability”): you can ask for a copy of your personal information for your own purposes to use across different services. In certain circumstances, you can move, copy of transfer the personal information we hold to another company.

Right to object to processing your personal information: where it’s based in our legitimate interests, for direct marketing and if we were using it for research and statistics.

Rights relating to automatic decision making including profiling: you have the right to ask JSP Financial Services Limited to give you information about its processing of your personal information, request human intervention or challenge a decision where processing is done solely by automated processes, or ask us to carry out regular checks to make sure that our automated decision making and profiling processes are working as they should. We do not currently indulge in automated decision making processes, but we may pass your personal information to a third party (such as an insurance company or fund manager or other provider) that does.
